Larry David Marcus

Larry Marcus has a long and successful background in media, marketing and finance.  He has served in the capacities of CEO, CFO, VP Business Affairs, among others, of several large and small media companies.  Currently, he is Principal of Marcus Strategies, a business consulting practice, the Managing Partner of Marcus Investments as well as Chief Executive Officer of Peak Media Holdings, an investor in television stations.

Co-Founder of River City Broadcasting, owner and operator of ten televisions and thirty four radio stations, located in medium to large markets coast to coast, Larry served as its Chief Financial Officer, a start-up in 1989, and was instrumental in building it from scratch and managing it through to its sale to Sinclair Broadcast Group in 1996, generating 100% annual IRRs for seven years.

Larry currently consults in the communications and media sector, and has served as Director of  several media companies including KWMU, the National Public Radio station in St Louis,  Radio One Inc., the Washington, DC based publicly held, African-American controlled radio group, Hero Broadcasting, the MTV3 (Hispanic) affiliate group based in Miami, has served as Chairman of the Del Mar Television Foundation and has been on the advisory board of KPBS-TV/Radio, the public stations in San Diego.

In San Diego, Larry is very involved in several worthy charitable organizations, including being a hospice volunteer for San Diego Hospice, working with inner city kids through Pro Kids, the First Tee program, is the senior communications advisor to the Equinox Center, an environmentally active pro economic growth non profit,  advises the La Jolla Music Society in marketing matters and is a strategic advisor to the California Council of Economic Eduation, which promotes financial literacy in the school systems of California.

Prior, Larry served in various financial management positions in the broadcasting business, including the Washington Post Company and Koplar Communications.  He was a financial computer systems consultant for Price Waterhouse Coopers and Johnson & Johnson, and has served on various corporate, civic, industry and charitable boards.

Born in New York City, Larry received his Bachelors in Business from the City University of New York as well as his MBA in computer science.  He has two grown daughters.   Larry is recognized in Who’s Who in America.
